24.2. Physically distanced, socially connected – Youth mental health and accessible free-time activities

Among other things the pandemic has profoundly affected the way young people spend their free time. How has this affected young people’s mental wellbeing? How can organised activities keep running? How can we ensure the accessibility of leisure activities?

Join us for a Zoom discussion on Wednesday 24th February 17–18 UK time with:

Juliette O’Donnell, psychology student, a mentor and member of Galway Community Circus. Galway Community Circus gives opportunities to young people to live their best life by supporting their physical, mental and social well-being.

Pihla Aaltonen, online mental health support development worker, Sekasin-chat, ‎Finnish Red Cross. The Finnish Sekasin chat is an online mental health support chat for 12 to 29 year olds. The service is also available through various social media and gaming platforms.

Irma Sippola, project manager, Finnish model of youth leisure activities, City of Helsinki. The Finnish model aims to give all Finnish young people a free, inspiring activity in connection to their school day.
