This podcast is a panel discussion recorded at The Lakes International Comic Art Festival exploring the legacy of  Tove Jansson, the creator of the beloved Moomin characters

The author, illustrator and artist Tove Jansson is best known as the creator of the beloved Moomin characters that have been translated into more than 50 languages. In Britain The Evening Standard was the first to publish her comics about the Moomins in 1954.

This panel discussion, recorded at The Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October 2017, explores the phenomenon of the Moomins, but it also reveals much more about their extraordinary creator and the huge legacy she has left across the world.

The panel is featured by Sophia Jansson (Tove Jansson’s niece and Artistic Director of Oy Moomins Characters Ltd), Tuula Karjalainen (author of ‘Tove Jansson: Work and Love’), Jonathan Edwards (joint-creator with Felt Mistress of ‘Archipelagogo’ a installation commissioned for LICAF 2017). It is hosted by comics expert Paul Gravett.

More than the Moomins – The Life & Work of Tove Jansson is sponsored by the Finnish Institute and Moomin Characters LTD.
