Feminine roles in paintings

Finnish artist Niina Lehtonen Braun’s solo exhibition, The Girl and the Nettle, has opened at PAPER Gallery in Manchester. The exhibition consists of a series of collaged paintings that represent women in different roles, such as mothers, carers and mistresses.

In her paintings Lehtonen Braun uses watercolour, ink and collage elements to describe and question womanhood. With her distinctive use of colours Lehtonen Braun discusses different responsibilities and conflicts attached to these roles of women.
