11.12. Finnish/Female/Feminist Filmmakers at Close-Up Film Centre

Close-Up Film Centre brings a programme of 10 short films by pioneering Finnish female filmmakers from 1960s to 1990s. The programme features films for example from Eila Kaarresalo, Marjut Rimminen and Marja Pensala, all screened on 16mm prints. Curator Milja Mikkola of Midnight Sun Film Festival will introduce the programme, and the screenings are followed by a Q&A with director Marjut Rimminen who is presented by four films in the programme.

The programme is curated by Ehsan Khoshbakht, and it is a part of Close-Up Film Centre’s new ‘Never on Sunday’ which is a series of screenings of rare classics, archive masterpieces, obscure delights and forgotten gems.

The event takes place at Close-Up Film Centre, 97 Sclater Street, London E1 6HR on Sunday 11 December 2022 at 8.15pm. More info about the programme and tickets, please check Close-Up Film Centre’s website.

The programme is supported by the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.
