11.1.– 15.2. Felicia Honkasalo’s Grey Cobalt exhibition opens a door to a different era

Photoartist Felicia Honkasalo’s exhibition Grey Cobalt  is now open at Webber Gallery in London.

The exhibition, and the book with the same name are formed of photos that contain objects left behind by Honkasalo’s late grandfather, a person whom the artist has never met. Together with notes gathered and written by Honkasalo and her grandfather, these artefacts lead the visitor through a certain time in history.

According to Honkasalo, the objects enabled her to form a picture of her late grandfather. They also offered her a new view into the history of her native Finland, while also helping her understand the impact different historic events have had on later generations.

“I also learnt to see these artefacts in a new light and realised how even a single, everyday object may have witnessed remarkable turns of time.”
