Compositions for Actions: Open Call for Finnish Creative Practitioners

The Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland is pleased to announce a new and fast paced Open Call for Finnish and Finland-based professional artists and artist groups and their international collaborators to submit project proposals in performing arts and/or contemporary arts that address the topics of equality, diversity and inclusion.

The theme for the 2024 Compositions for Actions Open Call is artistic and socially focused projects that address the democratisation and participatory aspects of performing arts and/or contemporary arts.

1-3 projects will be selected. The total grant for each project will be between 5000€ and 15,000€ (including VAT). Projects must take place in the UK or Ireland during 2024 or early 2025.

Existing partnerships in the UK and Ireland will be considered an advantage. The Finnish Institute promotes the international mobility, visibility and cooperation of Finnish arts and culture. The aim of the open call is to ensure the livelihood of artists and the continuity of international cooperation.

Eligibility

Finnish and Finland-based professional artists and artist groups and their international collaborators or projects with a strong link to Finland or contemporary Finnish arts and culture.

Selection panel

1-2 specialists/curators from Finland and the UK and Ireland will be invited to the selection panel.

Proposals (in English OR Finnish) should be submitted in the following format:

  1. Project description (max. 1 page) including proposal summary (max. 1 paragraph). If sent in an audio or video format, the proposal should be max. 5 minutes.
  2. Partnerships in the UK or Ireland (if any)

  3. Project team CV’s or Portfolio

  4. Tentative Budget and existing funding (if any)

  5. Tentative schedule

Application process

We will support selected project(s) up to 15,000€. One to three projects will be selected. The total grant of an individual project is between 5000–15 000 € (including VAT).

Proposals should be sent by 03.03.2024 to applications@fininst.uk no later than 23:59 (11:59 p.m.) UK time with the email heading EDI Open Call 2024.

Application Period: February 6th, 2024 – March 3rd, 2024

Final selection of projects will be made in April 2024.
