Ninni Lehtniemi, MA, has started as the Head of the Society & Culture Programme at the Finnish Institute in London.

Lehtniemi is joining the institute from science communications agency Kaskas Media, where she ran many successful customer projects related to social innovation, science and education as  senior communications expert. Lehtniemi’s background is in journalism and she has worked e.g. as a managing editor of Olivia magazine and staff writer at Ylioppilaslehti and Helsingin Sanomat.

“Lehtniemi is a strong communicator and project leader with excellent knowledge of British society. She will strengthen our team especially in fields of social innovation and education”, says director Pauliina Stahlberg.

Lehtniemi holds a master’s degree in journalism from University of Jyväskylä and a BA (Hons) degree in journalism, film and broadcasting from Cardiff University. She has also spent a year as a journalist fellow at Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, University of Oxford.

“As the Head of Society Programme it will be my job to help good ideas spread and good, brilliant people from Finland, the UK and Ireland to meet and come up with some even better ideas. I don’t think anything could be more exciting, especially during the turbulent times of Brexit”, Lehtniemi says.
