The global phenomenon WOW - Women of the World Festival arrives in Tampere 11.3-12.3!
Women of the World Finland is an international festival, celebrating the achievements of women and girls everywhere and examining the obstacles that keep them from fulfilling their potential.
London Southbank Centre’s festival concept is now brought to the Nordic countries for the first time. The feminist festival will be held at Tampere Hall 11.3-12.3 and includes inspirational programmes ranging from panel discussions to galas and workshops in Finnish, Swedish and English.
WOW creates a space where everyone can be heard. There are over 150 speakers and performers, including former president Tarja Halonen, business leader Lenita Airisto, musicians Erin and Maija Vilkkumaa, actress Anna Paavilainen, French lawyer Jeanette Bougraib, Zambian activist Beauty Katebe and former Prime Minister of Iceland Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir.
“WOW offers a unique opportunity to take part in the discussion on gender equality, make an impact and get inspired. Many influential women are participating in the festival, sharing their thoughts, knowledge and experiences. Personally I look forward to the discussions with international activists” explains the director of The Finnish Institute in London Pauliina Ståhlberg.
